Still Running His Race
In 2011, Dad collapsed from a heart attack in front of me. We were in the middle of a street on Thanksgiving for a 5K family event. Dad fell straight back, gurgled, and appeared dead.
I froze in shock until a stranger approached from the nearby curb. Identifying himself as a Navy corpsman, he asked permission to offer Good Samaritan aid and started CPR. Race medical staff soon arrived on bicycles with a new AED.
Do miracles happen? My answer: “Yes!” Dad turned 86 this year.
Examples of resurrection exist in the Bible. The prophet Elijah restored a widow’s son in Zarapeth (1Kings 17:7-24). In the New Testament, Jesus restored Lazarus to his sisters (John 11:1-44).
Jesus Himself showed us that death is only an intermission. “The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:44-47).
Even when the physical body expires, we know that the God who created the universe and crafted fingerprints orchestrates reunions. God works in mysterious ways.
Celebrate the time you have. Be thankful for loved ones.
Today’s Bible verse:
“Stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)
A mysterious stranger intervened and began the CPR that saved my dad's life.
