Right this moment, I don’t feel lovable. I am sad and a bit lonely. My divorce finalized almost 10 years ago after my husband left, and that rejection makes Valentine’s Day difficult.
Can you relate?
I give myself a pep talk and count blessings, but sorrow lingers. Have you also suffered loss?
Rather than stewing, I am searching for Bible references to remind me about God’s constancy. Maybe these passages will help you too.
God’s love doesn’t end.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever,” (Psalm 107:1 NIV).
God’s love is greater than we can imagine.
“For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies,”
(Psalm 108:4 NIV).
God’s love doesn’t fail.
“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days,” (Psalm 90:14 NIV).
God’s love secures.
“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” (Psalm 94:18-19 NIV).
Today’s prayer:
Dear Lord, when we feel unwanted, please remind us how You cherish us. You can hear our cry before a sound is uttered. Please hold us close and whisper tender assurances. Amen.
