Feeling the need for restoration and rejuvenation? A retreat may be just the ticket for your weary soul to rest. “A retreat gives you the quiet space to hear from God in a special and powerful way and to be refreshed and rejuvenated for the work the Lord has for you,” said Kathy Ide of Southern California. A freelance editor, Kathy also runs the Christian Editor Network, directs writers’ events, and writes her own books.
To encourage Christian authors and editors, Kathy is organizing a writers’ retreat November 5-7, 2021, at the scenic Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center in California. The peaceful setting features coastal redwoods, streams, and waterfalls. Unlike a writers’ conference, with an emphasis on networking with industry professionals, the retreat will focus on connecting with God and hanging out with peers in the writing community.
For those who can’t travel, she offers a virtual version of the event that can be done alone or with friends. If this first year goes well, she plans to make this an annual event. She’s also considering putting on writers’ retreats in Southern California and Texas.
Kathy’s favorite Scripture verse is Ephesians 3:20–21: “All glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (NLT).
Kathy admits to sometimes feeling overwhelmed when juggling everything she has on her plate, even though she loves each of her responsibilities. “But when I remind myself that God wants to do these things with me and through me, and that he can accomplish far more than I could ever dream or imagine, I get excited about partnering with him and then watching the amazing things he does with the little I have to offer.”
